Our History

The Queen’s Marketing Association was formed in 1986 by distinguished professor at the Smith School of Business Kenneth Wong, and a group of students dedicated to bridging the gap between industry and the classroom. In 2000, the annual conference was created, which would later be known as QMAC. In 2003, the QMAC challenge was introduced to allow university students to have hands-on marketing experience.

In 2013, a new event was introduced, which would later be known as Marketing Career Day to provide more opportunity for university students to connect with marketing professionals.

In 2015, QMA celebrated the 30th anniversary of QMAC and QMA’s blog, the Nucleus, was launched with the goal of providing more online educational resources to students.

In 2017, QMAC moved from Kingston to Toronto to provide an even larger array of access to recruitment opportunities for students and create accessibility for our national applicants.

In 2021, the conference shifted to an online format due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In 2022, the conference was able to shift back to anin-person model in Kingston, which allowed greater connections between students and companies.

In 2023, QMA’s Challenge was re-branded to QMA Master Class, taking place in August 2023. In November, the conference made its return to Toronto to maximize value for delegates and partners.
